Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is a collaborative process between a therapist and a client. Some common goals of therapy can include improving quality of life, developing a stronger sense of self, experiencing a greater feeling of freedom, and/or helping the client to see the many choices in life available to him/her/them. Individual therapy can have several names: therapy, psychotherapy, treatment, talk therapy, and counseling.
Really, therapy is a personal opportunity to receive support and kindness, especially in a difficult time. Therapy allows containment and space to not be okay, to let go, and release whatever he/her/they have been holding onto.
The client and the therapist form an alliance, relationship, bond, or connection that facilitates trust and growth.
Life Coaching
Life Coaching typically takes place in a one-on-one setting with a wellness professional also known as a ‘Life Coach.’ The goal of Life Coaching is to aid the client in attaining greater fulfillment.
Typical areas of improvement are focused on:
Relationships
Career
Day to Day lives
Massage Therapy
According to the American Massage Therapy Association, there is a growing body of research supporting the positive impact of massage therapy for the relief of stress, anxiety, and depression. One study showed that 10-15 minutes of massage lowered cortisol levels.
Massage therapy can be an effective treatment by elevating neurotransmitters associated with lowering anxiety and decreasing hormones associated with increasing anxiety. Research also indicates that massage can improve mood and reduce depression.
Story Groups
Story Groups are weekly sessions with multiple attendees. Typically a smaller group of individuals will meet together with goal of giving and receiving care. Groups are a great way of learning more about how you show up in the world. Groups re-enact the the way you approach relationships in the real world, but offer a space to give and receive feedback in a safe space. Groups give you a chance to change the way that you step into relationships and rewrite your story.
